ELSA Internationalwas founded on May 4, 1981 in Vienna by students from Poland, Austria, Hungary and what was then West Germany. The idea was to promote international contacts and mutual understanding between law students from both sides of the "Iron Curtain".
Today, the headquarters of the organization is in Brussels, and its rich network includes national groups from all European countries. With its many years of successful work, ELSA has acquired a special status in many bodies of the United Nations, and it also has its own permanent observers at the European Union.
Local groupELSA Belgradewas founded in 1987, immediately after the establishment of the national group of the then ELSA Yugoslavia. ELSA Belgrade connected and organized work at law faculties in the country and thus laid the foundations for the development of a stable organization as it is today. Our projects/activities are supported by the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade and the wider legal community.
